Paramount has delayed ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ in a shakeup of its release calendar.
It’s been five long years since the last Star Trek movie and the next season may not be for some time far away, there is at least some light at the end of the Trekkers’ tunnel (or caterpillar). Paramount Pictures has announced the June 9, 2023, release date of the infamous film Star Trek, according to Variety. Last month, the studio hired Star Trek: Discovery writer Kalinda Vazquez to write a movie script based on her original idea, but it is unclear if that was the same project.
Whether Paramount adheres to that date remains to be seen. There have been several attempts to track Star Trek: Beyond over the past few years, including one from Quentin Tarantino, but none have yet been released.
Between now and the next movie coming out, fans will have some new episodes of Star Trek games to watch Paramount +. Discovery and Lower Decks will be back later this year, during the second season of Star Trek: Picard will arrive in 2022. Meanwhile, Paramount has changed its schedule for other movies, with a knocking effect on future films, as theaters continue to slowly open up during the COVID-19 epidemic. Top Gun: Maverick runs from July 2 to November 19, and Mission: Impossible 7 is delayed from the last day until May 27 next year. The next movie at Mission: Impact saga will now be released on July 7, 2023 instead of November 4, 2022. Meanwhile, Dungeons & Dragons, scheduled for May 27 next year, has been delayed on March 3, 2023.
